When: September 5th 1976 - Early Afternoon
Where: Gryffindor Common Room
Who: James Potter and Sirius Black
OOC Notes: New Sirius Black player to enter the thread
James was seated on an armchair at the Gryffindor Common Room. A partially written parchment could be found over his lap and a quill was swinging on his hand. He usually did that when he had homework to do. Yep, it was a strange way to go about it. The place was never completely empty, especially in the middle of the day, but it was how he liked to do his thinking. James was always at his best when he was defying his boundaries.
So he closed his eyes and focused within to try to retrieve memories from a class last year and the talks he had had with his parents during Summer break. James knew his elderly parents were a great source of knowledge and wisdom and not only respected them for it but also always listened with attention what they had to say, especially about dangerous things such as what this paper he had to write as an assignment for DADA was about.
James opened his eyes again and wrote some more to his essay, actually finishing it. The noise in the room fully reached his ears once more since he was no longer mentally shielding himself from it. There was no magic involved in this action, just selective focus. A little thing he was playing with for a couple years now. He decided to simply relish in the talking going on. You could always learn something interesting from the Common Room rumor mill and what was being talked about was particularly interesting to the young prankster.
It seemed there were a bunch of new students attending the school this year as if the student body had simply doubled and seemingly they were all American transfers. Oh, yes, James was already thinking on a great welcome party for the newcomers in the best Marauder style. A grin appeared on his face as the details of his plan became each second clearer in his mind.
James then folded his parchment and placed the quill inside to make sure he wouldn't loose it... again. His plan was to leave such possessions in his room to safeguard his finished essay, he had no intentions to have to redo it and thus loose precious time he could use better doing other things, including other homework and, of course, getting to know the new people in his own mischievous way.
Potter stood up to fulfill such course of thought and then go seek out Sirius, Remus and Peter in order to achieve funner endeavors before the end of the day and before finishing up more homework. It seemed all the teachers were asking for papers this year to gauge them. At least now the reason seemed clear. It wasn't a problem for James. If he had already seem, heard or read something before, he could just grab it from memory. He was not really worried by these essays as they were simple refreshments and not actually needing of new research efforts.
