Remus had been on a visit to Hogsmeade this fine September evening. This is where he had a few butterbeers, bought one small piece of Droobles gum from Honeydukes, and now had trekked down to the place where the brave kids went to prove they weren't scared of the haunted Shrieking Shack. However, Remus knew that the shack was not haunted, and therefore wasn't scared of it really, especially from this distance. In fact a week from now he would enter that shack and howl like a wolf.
That was the whole reason the building was haunted. It was him. His fault that everyone was scared to come this way. But it didn't matter too much, at least at the moment. Who cared if no one really came this way? It made a good place for him to come to think, and that's what he had come to do. He was always one to think a little too much for his own good. But it was just in his nature to think everything over. And this was a good quiet place he trusted to stay pretty quiet.
Remus was thinking back to when he had almost killed Severus Snape, and he was thinking about what he was going to do after Hogwarts. Really when he thought about it, what he really wanted to do was teach. However, that was only a dream, one that couldn't come true, especially if word got out what he was. Healer was out of the question, because really who would trust him, a creature that would harm everyone in sight once a month, to treat their loved one? When he thought about it, all of his top choices were out of the question, Teacher, Auror, Healer, he was pretty sure that not even those dragon tamers in Romania would take him if they found out.
However, he was pretty good at keeping his secret safe and close to him. Only his closest friends, and Severus Snape knew, so maybe he could hide it enough that he could get one of those jobs. Though Aurors and Healers had their blood checked, and he couldn't hide his condition in those circumstances. Maybe he could work for Gringotts or those dragon tamers, at least until it was discovered that he was a werewolf, which apparently to those watching him close took about two years or so, because his friends found out that quickly. He might be able to manage that. Two or so years in a job, moving around, it wouldn't be too bad, he supposed.
Remus stared out at the Shrieking Shack, leaning against a newly built fence, just to keep people from going closer. The Shrieking Shack used to look nice, until about two years after him transforming in there, tearing everything up in the whole building. He was lucky he had yet to break a wall to the outside and roam free. Well he probably would have if his best friends didn't help him out every full moon for awhile. He was still uneasy at the idea of his best friends, the only ones he knew to accept him, coming to help him through his most dangerous moments. Of course he avoided injuring his friends, but he usually had a few cuts here and there. Werewolf injuries could not be healed but by the body, so he had plenty of scars, and luckily they were pretty much on his chest, shoulders or upper legs, so he could still wear short sleeves without showing anything, though he avoided shorts nowadays.
So there he was. Simply leaning ever so slightly against the fence shielding the Shrieking Shack from intruders, staring at the torn up building.
